Learning & Teaching/Assessment Policies

Assessment Policies

Assessment is to collect the learning proof of students' knowledge, ability, value and attitude through observing students' performance and carrying out quizzes and examinations.

1. Purposes of assessment

enables students to understand their strengths and weaknesses in learning, know what to achieve next, and lead them to show their fullest potentials. Students can also receive feedback from teachers and other evaluators to help them improve learning.

lets parents understand the strengths and weaknesses of their children in learning, provides learning evidence to parents so that they can consider how to help their children improve their studies and have reasonable expectations for their children.

allows teachers and the school to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of students in learning so that they can provide effective feedback and specific suggestions to students on how to improve learning. It can also provide learning evidence for teachers to revise related learning objectives, expectations of students, curriculum design and content, teaching strategies and activities. Ultimately, teachers can better meet the needs and abilities of students, so as to facilitate learning and improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching.

 2. Modes of assessment

Our school adopts diversified assessment modes. Various assessment modes are added to each subject, such as Chinese and English dictation, life skills, attitude and affection, etc. In addition, each school year, there are three formal examinations for Chinese, English, Mathematics, General Studies, Music, Physical Education, Computer (Primary Three to Primary Six). There is no formal examination for Visual Arts. Instead, visual arts diaries, daily works, and learning attitude are used as assessments.
