Subject Goals
1. Knowledge:
Assist students to understand and master the basic knowledge of mathematics, including the following five areas: Number, Shape & Space, Measures, Data Handling and Algebra.
2. Skills:
Develop students' mathematics skills and generic skills, including basic calculation skills, exploration of the laws of Numbers and Shapes, data collection and analysis, "number sense" and "spatial sense", etc.
3. Attitude:
Cultivate students' correct attitudes and values in mathematics learning, arouse students' interest in learning mathematics, and let students develop the spirit of independent thinking and overcoming difficulties.
Subject Features
1. Group teaching:
We will conduct group teaching in Primary 5 to Primary 6 to improve students' learning effectiveness. In order to make classroom activities more fluent in Primary 1 to Primary 2, we will arrange teaching assistants to collaborate in some lessons.
2. Diversified activities:
In order to increase students' interest in learning mathematics, we will conduct diversified learning activities in the mathematics lessons, such as group games, competitions, hands-on experience activities, e-learning etc.
3. Personal learning support:
Teachers have a close relationship with students, and during our free time, we always assist students in need. For example, we help students during self-management sessions, after school tutorials, and before the start of school.
4. Optimize classroom learning:
Teachers will design life-oriented study activities and integrate mathematical concepts into real life.
5. Self-learning:
Starting from the lower form, students are taught the skills of writing Mathematics notes, and students are trained to write down the key points of the teacher's explanation with their own words and symbols, so that they can learn more independently.
6. Leveling Battle:
We have compiled a set of "Leveling Battle booklet" with different mathematics key points for students. Students will receive a certificate for completing the Battle, a short assessment. All the award certificates are put in the “Leveling Battle folder”, which record the progress of every student's Math learning throughout their elementary school stage.
7. Pre-study before lesson:
Encourage students to preview the learning materials before lesson, so that students can explore independently, and then discuss their subject problems encountered into the classroom to enhance students' learning motivation.
8. Improve students' thinking ability:
We are planning to add some interesting challenge questions into the class and schoolwork to make students' learning more interesting and challenging.
